Zig Zag Band, gains momentum

Zig Zag band is set to host countrywide tours, following the success of the band`s recently released video, Chinamazano Satan, which has gained momentum on the national television broadcast channel, ZBC Tv.

In an interview with the director of the band, Tawanda Jumo, of Bantu Entertainment Zimbabwe, Jumo expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the band over the past few months, since its revival.

“The latest release is enjoying a lot of airplay on all radio stations and as well as on our national broadcaster, ZBC. The video has now amassed over 5k views on you tube, and over 35k views on facebook.

“. Following the success of the project the next stage is to go on tour, promoting it, meeting our fans countrywide and beyond. The band is also available for joint collaborative works in the studios, and live exhibitions,” said Jumo.

Jumo called upon stakeholders in the entertainment sector to continuously support the band as it has proven beyond doubt that Zig Zag band, is still alive.

“This success of this project has put back the City of Kwekwe on the entertainment map, it has put the Zig Zag Band back on their feet, and it has proved beyond doubt that as Bantu Entertainment Zimbabwe, we are a capable arts promotion company.

“Venue owners, festival organizers, the corporate sector and other arts promoters can now engage the band for live shows,” he added.

Zig Zag band made its massive turn around last year after releasing a single track Chinemazano.

The band was a hit in the 80s and mid-90s but after the demise of the group`s core members, the group sank into oblivion. Some members of the band were based in Kadoma, Kwekwe and Harare. Gilbert Zvamaida left the group and is now the lead guitarist for Thomas Mapfumo in the United Kingdom.

It only made its way back into the entertainment sphere last year, with the intervention of Bantu Entertainment from Kwekwe, who partnered with some former band members to resuscitate the musical outfit.
